Seventh graders viewed and discussed paintings of interiors created by Vincent Van Gogh. They then learned step-by-step how to draw rooms using one point perspective. First they practiced by drawing simple shapes such as cubes and then they progressed onto drawings more challenging objects.
Each room reflects the interests of the student who created it. They were encouraged to create “fantasy” rooms, filling them with the furniture and color schemes that they wanted. Students were also encouraged to use shading to increase the illusion of shadow and depth.
