Second graders worked on a unit involving warm and cool colors. To finish the three project unit, they viewed images of stylized landscapes created by Paul Klee. They took note of the simplified shapes and the bold colors. Some of the paintings displayed warm and cool colors playing off of each other. Students were shown how they could create a stylized landscape using concentric circles and round shapes for hills or pastures. They were given the choice of creating a warm sky with a cool ground OR a cool sky with a warm ground. Oil pastels were used to keep the color bright and saturated.
