Fourth graders learned about the Indian elephant headed deity Ganesha. They learned about the legend of how Ganesha came to be and they learned about his various attributes. Students took what they learned and created their own versions of Ganesha.
Students learned all about the Taj Mahal. We discussed the onion dome, the minarets, the reflecting pool, and the symmetry of the structure. They drew their own versions of the Taj Mahal and colored them in with marker and colored pencil. They were encouraged to create their own color palette and to add personal “touches” to make their pictures unique.
